This volume seeks to give the May Days their real importance by publishing Augustin Souchy's first hand detailed account which has been out of print for more than forty years. The chapter by Burnett Bolloten -- a United Press correspondent in Spain during the Civil War -- completes the picture with a well documented account of the comings and goings of the politicians, both inside the government and amoung the 'anarchist' leaders. And for those who still deny that there were secret prisons in Republican Spain there is Emma Goldman's account of her experiences trying to visit political prisoners during 1937 ; Contents: Editor"s Preface 1.
